Why The Education System Is Failing Our Children
What's this Biden Administration doing (a) to aid the 15 to 43% of children who are affected by trauma in the US, (b) to help the 3 million who are food deficient and need to ask the teacher for food in order to eat, and (c) to provide schools with the proper tools with which to teach kids to learn to read and write? The answer is that as in the aftermath of the ruling that was Citizens United in 2010 which allowed for unlimited spending in elections, decisions of the government are influenced by campaign contributions which is a legalized form of bribery. The politicians who run the government aren't educated about the educational system. For example, the current Democratic candidate for governor's seat in Virginia, Terry McAuliffe recently said that parents don't have the power to dictate what is required on the curriculum of schools. The Governor was , arguably in political motives, appealing to members of the Teachers Union and the School Boards. But if the man who wants to run the state government does not know that the public schools are the responsibility of the taxpayers who pay for them How can he be relied on to reform the system? The citizens may contribute money to fund the public schools, but the majority of the money comes from property tax, which causes huge funding gaps between poor and wealthy communities. A fairer system would be to make use of state taxes to raise the funds similar to Indiana as well as Michigan. Young people are the society's most valuable treasure. However, society is failing its children. Children who are traumatized cannot be taught and are more prone to violence. Children who are not fed properly cannot learn to read or write, and are more likely to end up in a penal institution instead of going to a school of higher learning. The failures of our education system are not just stifling opportunities for our best and brightest, but is also falling in the world rankings especially in the realms of science and mathematics. Constitutionally when the government doesn't do its duty, it is the responsibility of the citizens to step in and do things right.. First of all, we need firstly a Constitutional Amendment to reverse Citizens United and to restore democracy to elections. Second, voters must refrain from voting against and instead for candidates. It allows people who aren't deserving of public office. Young people are an inaccessible source of talent, and it is important to give them the tools to flourish, such as the elimination of student debt that impedes growth. This calls for a Department of Children and Youth to introduce trauma-informed learning as well as wrap-around services. They also provide restorative justice, conflict resolution, mindfulness and mental health services in schools. Officials elected to office must be properly scrutinized in order to be held responsible for what they do. They must remember that they are accountable to the people , not for themselves.
